使徒行传 1:12-26
有一座山名叫橄榄山，离耶路撒冷不远，约有安息日可走的路程。当下，门徒从那里回耶路撒冷去，进了城，就上了所住的一间楼房。在那里有彼得、约翰、雅各、安得烈、腓力、多马、巴多罗买、马太、亚勒腓的儿子雅各、奋锐党的西门和雅各的儿子犹大。这些人同着几个妇人和耶稣的母亲马利亚，并耶稣的弟兄，都同心合意地恒切祷告。那时，有许多人聚会，约有一百二十名，彼得就在弟兄中间站起来，说：“弟兄们，圣灵藉大卫的口在圣经上预言领人捉拿耶稣的犹大，这话是必须应验的。他本来列在我们数中，并且在使徒的职任上得了一份。这人用他作恶的工价买了一块田，以后身子仆倒，肚腹崩裂，肠子都流出来。住在耶路撒冷的众人都知道这事，所以按着他们那里的话给那块田起名叫亚革大马，就是‘血田’的意思。因为诗篇上写着说：‘愿他的住处变为荒场，无人在内居住’，又说：‘愿别人得他的职分。’“所以主耶稣在我们中间始终出入的时候，就是从约翰施洗起，直到主离开我们被接上升的日子为止，必须从那常与我们做伴的人中立一位与我们同作耶稣复活的见证。”于是选举两个人，就是那叫做巴撒巴、又称呼犹士都的约瑟和马提亚。众人就祷告说：“主啊，你知道万人的心，求你从这两个人中指明你所拣选的是谁，叫他得这使徒的位分。这位分犹大已经丢弃，往自己的地方去了。”于是众人为他们摇签，摇出马提亚来，他就和十一个使徒同列。

在职业篮球比赛中，你看过坐在替补席上的球员吗？他们中的大多数都还穿着热身服，而且一点汗都没有流。他们都身怀绝技，否则根本不会被允许坐在替补席上。不管他们以前打过什么级别的球赛，他们可能都是明星。但现在，他们只是坐在板凳上，耐心地等待上场。
我不知道马提亚是否给人这种感觉。他从一开始就跟随耶稣。他听过耶稣所教导的一切。他看到了耶稣所行的一切神迹。他可能是耶稣传道期间派出的 72 位跟随者之一。马提亚一定有很多故事可以分享，讲述他在跟随耶稣时的所见所闻。当然，他是耶稣合格而忠诚的追随者。但在抽出他的名字之前，他并不是十二使徒之一。
有时，耶稣给我们的信息是“等待”。我们可能已经准备好去祂差我们去的地方，或做祂要我们做的事。但祂让我们再等等。等待机会，等待时机成熟。等待耶稣呼唤我们。
我想马提亚一定很兴奋，因为他将成为使徒中的一员，去改变世界。我希望你们也能成为这场运动中的一员。
祷告
主耶稣，当你呼召我们跟随你时，请让我们激动而喜悦地说“是”，迎接你为我们预备的一切。阿们。
MATTHIAS
"They cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles." - Acts 1:26
At a professional basketball game, have you looked at all of the players sitting on the bench? Most of them still have their warmups on and aren’t sweating at all. They all have plenty of skills, or they wouldn’t even be allowed to sit on that bench. They were probably stars at whatever previous level of basketball they played. But for now they sit on the bench and patiently wait for a turn to play.
I wonder if Matthias felt in a way like that. He had been following Jesus from the beginning. He had heard everything that Jesus had taught. He had seen all of the miracles Jesus had done. He may have been one of the 72 followers Jesus had sent out during his ministry. Matthias must have had many stories to share about what he had seen and done while following Jesus. Certainly he was a qualified and loyal follower of Jesus. But he wasn’t one of the 12 apostles until his name came up and was drawn by lot.
Sometimes the message we get from Jesus is “Wait.” We may be ready to go where he sends us or to do what he wants us to do. But he tells us to wait. Wait for the opportunity and for the time to be right. Wait for Jesus to call on us.
I imagine Matthias was excited to become part of the leading group of Christ-followers who would go out and change the world. I hope you are excited to be a part of that movement as well.
Lord Jesus, when you call us to follow you, move us to say yes with excitement and joy for what you have in store for us. Amen.
