出埃及记3:1-15
摩西牧养他岳父米甸祭司叶忒罗的羊群，一日领羊群往野外去，到了神的山，就是何烈山。 耶和华的使者从荆棘里火焰中向摩西显现。摩西观看，不料，荆棘被火烧着，却没有烧毁。 摩西说：“我要过去看这大异象，这荆棘为何没有烧坏呢？” 耶和华神见他过去要看，就从荆棘里呼叫说：“摩西！摩西！”他说：“我在这里。” 神说：“不要近前来。当把你脚上的鞋脱下来，因为你所站之地是圣地。” 又说：“我是你父亲的神，是亚伯拉罕的神、以撒的神、雅各的神。”摩西蒙上脸，因为怕看神。
耶和华说：“我的百姓在埃及所受的困苦，我实在看见了；他们因受督工的辖制所发的哀声，我也听见了。我原知道他们的痛苦。 我下来是要救他们脱离埃及人的手，领他们出了那地，到美好宽阔、流奶与蜜之地，就是到迦南人、赫人、亚摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地。 现在以色列人的哀声达到我耳中，我也看见埃及人怎样欺压他们。 故此，我要打发你去见法老，使你可以将我的百姓以色列人从埃及领出来。” 摩西对神说：“我是什么人？竟能去见法老，将以色列人从埃及领出来呢？” 神说：“我必与你同在。你将百姓从埃及领出来之后，你们必在这山上侍奉我，这就是我打发你去的证据。”
摩西对神说：“我到以色列人那里，对他们说：‘你们祖宗的神打发我到你们这里来。’他们若问我说：‘他叫什么名字？’我要对他们说什么呢？” 神对摩西说：“我是自有永有的。”又说：“你要对以色列人这样说：‘那自有的打发我到你们这里来。’” 神又对摩西说：“你要对以色列人这样说：‘耶和华你们祖宗的神，就是亚伯拉罕的神、以撒的神、雅各的神，打发我到你们这里来。’耶和华是我的名，直到永远；这也是我的纪念，直到万代。

面对燃烧的荆棘
“故此，我要打发你去见法老，使你可以将我的百姓以色列人从埃及领出来。” - 出 3:10
当摩西在旷野牧养羊群时，他见到荆棘被火烧着，却没有烧毁。当他走近察看时，有声音从荆棘里出来，摩西知道是神自己向他说话。
神吩咐摩西脱去他所穿的鞋，因为他所站之地是圣地。然后神向摩西解释，祂要救祂的子民离开埃及为奴之地，带他们回到神曾应许他们的祖先亚伯拉罕之地。神又说已拣选摩西去见法老，把祂的子民领出来。神要赐与摩西能力去事奉祂，他才能完成这使命。
摩西对神说：“我是什么人，竟能去见法老…… ？”他这样问是有理由的，因他真的不知道怎样告诉以色列人是谁差他来的。于是神自称是“我是自有永有的”，又吩咐摩西告诉以色列人是“耶和华”—就是亚伯拉罕的神，以撒的神和雅各的神，差他来到他们那里。
摩西和以色列人明白他们的身份，最终是由他们与那位自有永有(那唯一的真神)的关系所塑造的。在未认识那自有永有者之前，摩西和以色列人不能往前走。
我们也是这样，我们与又活又信实之神的关系，直接影响我们今天怎样看自己的身份。
祷告
亲爱的神，如果没有你，我们对自己的身份，和在这世上的目的，感到迷茫，完全没有方向。求你帮助我们听到你的声音，好让我们能认识并跟从你。阿们。

AT THE BURNING BUSH
“Now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10
While tending sheep in the wilderness, Moses saw a burning bush that did not burn up. As he went closer to try to see what was happening, a voice called out from the bush, and Moses learned that God himself was talking to him.
God told Moses to remove his sandals, for he was standing on holy ground. Then God explained that he was going to rescue his people from slavery in Egypt and take them back to the land he had promised to their father Abraham. God also said that he had chosen Moses to go to confront Pharaoh and bring the people out of there. And for Moses to do that, God would need to empower Moses to serve him.
Moses was right to ask, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh . . . ?” And he wondered what to tell the Israelites about who was sending him. Then God identified himself as “I AM WHO I AM,” and he instructed Moses to tell the Israelites that “the LORD”—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—was sending him to them.
Moses and the people would learn that ultimately their identity was shaped by their relationship to I AM—that is, to the one true God. Moses and the people could not move forward without knowing I AM.
The same is true for us. Our understanding of who we are today is directly related to our being in relationship with the living, faithful God.
Dear God, without you, we have no bearing or guidance on who we are and what we are to do in this world. Help us to hear your voice so that we can know and follow you. In Jesus, Amen.
