路加福音 22:24-27
门徒起了争论：他们中间哪一个可算为大。耶稣说：“外邦人有君王为主治理他们，那掌权管他们的称为恩主。但你们不可这样，你们里头为大的，倒要像年幼的；为首领的，倒要像服侍人的。是谁为大？是坐席的呢，是服侍人的呢？不是坐席的大吗？然而，我在你们中间如同服侍人的。

服事者
“我在你们中间如同服事人的。” - 路加福音 22:27
刚上大学时，有一群大四学生（其中一位是我未来的嫂子）邀请大学校长到他们的宿舍公寓，吃他们亲手做的饭，这让我大为惊叹。更让我惊讶的是，虽然校长身份尊贵，他竟然答应了。但令我终生难忘的是，用餐结束后，校长坚持要由他来洗碗。
这是一位“老派”校长—我从未见过他不穿西装打领带的样子。然而，他脱下西装外套，卷起雪白的衬衫袖子，借了一条围裙，把剩菜残渣刮进垃圾桶，他在肥皂水里刷洗了每一个盘子，向我们所有人展现了仆人式领袖的风范。
神亲自—祂比任何大学校长、首席执行官或其他领袖都更伟大—成为了“服事人的那一位”。在耶稣身上，我们看到道成肉身的神屈膝跪下，取了奴仆的姿势，俯身洗涤那些将要背叛、拒绝并离弃祂的门徒们的双脚，无声地服事了他们（《约翰福音》13 章）。
耶稣还藉着走向十字架、舍弃自己的生命来拯救我们，以此服事了我们。因祂所流的宝血，我们得以从罪的债务和咒诅中释放。
在耶稣对门徒的教导中，我们可以听到祂对我们的呼召，核心旨意是：“你们明白我为你们所做的吗？……现在，奉我的名去服事他人吧。”
祷告
谦卑的君王，我们敬拜你。你向我们显明了什么是真正的领袖。求你使我们成为像你一样的仆人。阿们。

THE ONE WHO SERVES
“I am among you as one who serves.” —Luke 22:27
When I began attending a university, I was amazed at a group of seniors (one of them my future sister-in-law) who invited the university president to come to a dorm apartment for a meal they had prepared. I was even more amazed that, important as he was, the president said yes. But the thing I’ll never forget is that when the meal was over, the president insisted he be the one to wash the dishes.
This was an “old school” president whom I had never seen apart from his dress suit and tie, but he set aside his suitcoat, rolled up his crisp white dress sleeves, borrowed an apron, and scraped lasagna bits into the garbage. He scrubbed every dish in that sudsy water and gave us all a picture of how a servant-leader acts.
God himself, greater than any university president, chief executive, or other leader, became “one who serves.” In Jesus, God-in-flesh got down on his knees, took the posture of a slave, and held in his hands the feet of his followers, who would betray, reject, and abandon him. He served them, washing their feet (John 13).
Jesus also served us by going to the cross and laying down his own life to save ours. By his shed blood we are freed from the debt and the curse of sin.
In Jesus’ teaching to his disciples, we can hear his call to us, in effect: “Do you understand what I have done for you? . . . Now go in my name and serve others.”
Humble King, we worship you. You have shown us what real leadership is. Make us servants like you, we pray. Amen.
