约翰福音14：1-14

“你们心里不要忧愁，你们信神，也当信我。 在我父的家里有许多住处，若是没有，我就早已告诉你们了，我去原是为你们预备地方去。 我若去为你们预备了地方，就必再来接你们到我那里去，我在哪里，叫你们也在哪里。 我往哪里去你们知道，那条路你们也知道。[a]” 多马对他说：“主啊，我们不知道你往哪里去，怎么知道那条路呢？”

耶稣说：“我就是道路、真理、生命。若不藉着我，没有人能到父那里去。 你们若认识我，也就认识我的父。从今以后，你们认识他，并且已经看见他。” 腓力对他说：“求主将父显给我们看，我们就知足了。” 耶稣对他说：“腓力，我与你们同在这样长久，你还不认识我吗？人看见了我，就是看见了父，你怎么说‘将父显给我们看’呢？ 我在父里面，父在我里面，你不信吗？我对你们所说的话，不是凭着自己说的，乃是住在我里面的父做他自己的事。 你们当信我，我在父里面，父在我里面；即或不信，也当因我所做的事信我。 我实实在在地告诉你们：我所做的事，信我的人也要做，并且要做比这更大的事，因为我往父那里去。 你们奉我的名无论求什么，我必成就，叫父因儿子得荣耀。 你们若奉我名求告什么，我必成就。

独一无二的真理

“我就是道路、真理、生命；若不藉着我，没有人能到父那里去。”--约翰福音14：6

在这段经文中，耶稣不单是说祂知道什么是真理，或懂得教导人认识真理；祂乃是说：“我就是真理。”

意思是说，认识耶稣就等如认识真理。真理就是只有一位神，惟有藉着耶稣基督，我们才能找到这位神。真理就是那位创造宇宙，并以美物充满它的神，也是那位到世上来，赐我们救恩和新生命的神。我们是照独一真神的形像被造的，当我们在祂那里得到丰盛的生命时，我们便找到真正的自我了。

耶稣在这里所讲的话，有另一个说法，就是所有自我宣称是真理的，都是虚假的，包括世上其他所有的“主义”，例如：消费主义、共产主义、资本主义、享乐主义、民族主义等等。假如你认为真理就等同赚取更多金钱、或玩得更开心、或你支持的政党成功，你就是在欺哄自己了。惟有耶稣才是真理。

所有真理最终都归于耶稣。有些杰出的科学家和哲学家相信耶稣，因为耶稣在他们研究的结论中与他们会面。有些瘾君子相信了耶稣，因为他们发现只有耶稣才能帮助他们救自己。有些人见到基督徒能忠心地活出信仰的真理，他们发觉耶稣必定是帮助他们做得到的真理。

耶稣就是真理。今天就让我们把真理显明出来、宣扬它、在生活上见证它吧。

祷告

主神啊，求你帮助我们寻求你的真理，而不去理会我们生命中所有企图引诱我们的虚假宣称。愿我们能尽忠于你，以致别人见到时也想认识这真理。阿们。

John 14:1-14

SUNDAY, MAY 17

ONLY ONE TRUTH

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” —John 14:6

Notice that in this passage Jesus does not just say he knows the truth or can teach the truth. He says, “I am the truth.”

This means that to know Jesus is to know the truth. The truth is that there is one God, who can be found only through Jesus Christ. The truth is that the God who created the world and filled it with good things is the same God who came to give us salvation and new life. We are made in the image of the one true God, and we find our true selves when we receive full life in him.

The counterpoint of Jesus’ statement here is that all other claims to truth are false, including all the other “isms” of the world: consumerism, communism, capitalism, hedonism, nationalism, and so on. If you think that the truth is that we need to make more money, or have more fun, or have your political party succeed, you are telling yourself a lie. Only Jesus is the truth.

All truths eventually arrive at Jesus. Some brilliant scientists and philosophers have accepted Jesus because he has greeted them at the end of their investigations. Some addicts have received Jesus because they have discovered that only he can save them from themselves. Some have seen Christians faithfully living out the truth and have learned that Jesus must be the truth who makes that possible.

Jesus is the truth. Let’s show it, tell it, and live it today.

Lord and God, help us to seek your truth and to ignore all the false claims that tempt us in our lives. May we be so true to you that others see it and want it too. Amen.
