腓立比书 2:5-11

你们当以基督耶稣的心为心。 他本有神的形象，不以自己与神同等为强夺的， 反倒虚己，取了奴仆的形象，成为人的样式； 既有人的样子，就自己卑微，存心顺服以至于死，且死在十字架上。 所以神将他升为至高，又赐给他那超乎万名之上的名，叫一切在天上的、地上的和地底下的，因耶稣的名无不屈膝，无不口称耶稣基督为主，使荣耀归于父神。

耶稣，万名之上的名

“所以，神将他升为至高，又赐给他那超乎万名之上的名，叫一切在天上的、地上的，和地底下的，因耶稣的名无不屈膝…… ” - 腓立比书 2:9-10

世界上有许多如雷贯耳的名字：扎克伯格、苹果、习近平、特朗普、奥普拉、人工智能。这个世界会因这些名字兴衰吗？

还有一些离我们更近的名字：帕金森、阿尔茨海默、渐冻症、唐氏综合症。或者社会可能贴在我们身上的标签：离异、残疾、成瘾、不孕、被解雇、房屋被法拍、被遗忘、假释。这其中，有哪一个能决定我们的成败呢？没有。今天所读的经文宣告说：没有任何名字大过耶稣的名—无论是带着君王般的权势，还是带来麻烦与阻碍—它们根本望尘莫及。

这些名字中，没有一个曾降卑自己，“取了奴仆的形象”、“存心顺服，以至于死”来将我们提升。没有一个曾死在十字架上，为要赐给我们新生命。

耶稣是神所赐的那一位，拥有超乎万名之上的名。祂是我们唯一应当俯伏敬拜的那位。我们可以比对待任何别的名字或标签更认真地对待祂，因为祂本身就是神，祂统管万有。

这个月，让我们一同思想耶稣的各个名号，以及这些名号向我们显明祂的哪些特质。每一个名号都彰显了主耶稣基督那奇妙无与伦比的一面；万膝都要向祂跪拜，一切权势和威胁都要向祂屈服，“使荣耀归与父神”。我们就在祂的手中，祂使万物各得其所。

耶稣，感谢你所做的一切，让我们在你的名的大能中得着新生命和信心。愿我们尊崇你的名超过万名之上。阿们。

JESUS, NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES

God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. . . . —Philippians 2:9-10

There are a lot of big names out there: Zuckerberg, Apple, Xi, Trump, Oprah, AI. Does our world rise or fall with these names?

Or how about some names closer to home: Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, ALS, Down Syndrome? Or what about labels that society might apply to us: divorced, disabled, addicted, infertile, fired, foreclosed, forgotten, paroled? Do any of these have the power to make or break us?

No. Our reading today proclaims that no name, whether it carries princely power or brings us problems or roadblocks, is greater than Jesus— not even light years close.

None of those names went down low, “taking the very nature of a servant” and “becoming obedient to death” to raise us up. None of those died on a cross to give us new life.

Jesus is the only One whom God gave the name greater than any other name. He is the only One we should bow to. We can take him more seriously than any other name or label, for he himself is God, and he rules over all things.

This month, let’s reflect on the various names of Jesus and what they show us about him. Each one reveals something marvelous and matchless about Jesus Christ, our Lord, to whom every knee and power and threat will bow, “to the glory of God the Father.” We are in his hands, and he puts all things in their place.

Thank you, Jesus, for all you have done to give us new life and faith in the power of your name. May we honor your name above every name. Amen.
