以赛亚书 9:2-7；约翰福音 16:33

在黑暗中行走的百姓看见了大光，住在死荫之地的人有光照耀他们。 你使这国民繁多，加增他们的喜乐。他们在你面前欢喜，好像收割的欢喜，像人分掳物那样的快乐。 因为他们所负的重轭和肩头上的杖，并欺压他们人的棍，你都已经折断，好像在米甸的日子一样。 战士在乱杀之间所穿戴的盔甲，并那滚在血中的衣服，都必作为可烧的，当做火柴。 因有一婴孩为我们而生，有一子赐给我们，政权必担在他的肩头上。他名称为奇妙、策士、全能的神、永在的父、和平的君。 他的政权与平安必加增无穷，他必在大卫的宝座上治理他的国，以公平、公义使国坚定稳固，从今直到永远。万军之耶和华的热心必成就这事。我将这些事告诉你们，是要叫你们在我里面有平安。在世上你们有苦难，但你们可以放心，我已经胜了世界。”

和平之君

“他名称为……和平的君。” - 以赛亚书 9:6

在这里，耶稣被称为“和平之君”。什么是和平呢？

相传有两位画家被要求画出描绘和平的作品。一位画家画了一幅宁静的景象—平静的湖泊被起伏的青山环绕，高大的树木倒映在水中。蓝天安谧—嗯，确实很平和。

另一位画家却在画布上刷出了一个岩石峡谷，怪石嶙峋，阴暗险峻。一道汹涌的瀑布从岩壁顶端奔流而下，水花四溅，轰鸣作响。到处都是水雾！然而，在峡谷底部附近的一块岩石上，长着一棵纤细的小树。就在那悬于水面之上，被瀑布水雾浸润得闪闪发光的柔弱枝条上，筑有一个鸟巢。巢中，一只小鸟正安然入睡。

这第二幅画正是基督之平安的写照！

耶稣清楚地告诉我们，这世上的平安并非意味着没有患难，也并不仅仅是宁静悠闲的场景。耶稣所赐的平安意味着，即使身边水花飞溅、波涛汹涌，即使身处焦虑与挣扎的风暴中，我们依然拥有一块磐石！一个可以筑巢的稳固之处。

耶稣说，在世上你们有苦难。但要鼓起勇气，坦然无惧，进入安息。因耶稣已经胜了世界！

祷告

感谢耶稣，赐给我们不像世人所赐的平安。在你里面，即使身处生命的危险、风暴和患难中，我们也能找到安息与避难所。阿们。

PRINCE OF PEACE

He will be called . . . Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6

Here Jesus is named “Prince of Peace.” What is peace?

Two artists, the story goes, are asked to paint pictures depicting peace.

One artist paints a tranquil scene—a calm lake surrounded by rolling green hills and with towering trees mirrored in the water. The blue sky is still— and, well, peaceful.

The other painter brushes onto the canvas a rocky ravine, with dark, ominous, jutting-out rocks. Over the top of the rockface rushes a powerful waterfall, splashing and roaring. Spray and mist everywhere!

Yet on one of the crags, near the bottom of the gorge, stands a slender young tree. And there, on a tenuous branch overhanging the water, glistening with the spray from the waterfall, rests a bird’s nest. And in that nest a small bird is sleeping.

This second illustration is a picture of Christ’s peace!

Jesus makes clear that peace in this world is not the absence of trouble. It is not mainly about tranquil, relaxing scenes. Jesus’ peace means that even while the waters foam and surge about us, even amid storms of anxiety and struggle, we have a rock! A firm place to nest.

In this world we will have trouble, Jesus said. But take courage, and be at rest. Jesus has overcome the world!

Thank you, Jesus, for giving us your peace, which is not like the world’s. In you we can find rest and refuge even amid the dangers, storms, and troubles of life. Amen.
